Database Administrator

THE EAR Limited looking for a Senior Database Administrator to join our team on full time basis.

Perform all activities relating to the administration and support of the company’s databases in the development, QA, and production environments.

This Database Administration collaborates on a daily basis with Software Developers, Systems & Networks Engineers and reports to the CTO.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Proactively monitor database infrastructure to ensure secure services with high availability access and minimum downtime.

  • Implement and maintain monitoring tools.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production database issues.

  • Perform database server specification, performance tuning, analysis and optimization.

  • Ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases are configured for high resilience and are tuned for optimum performance.

  • Collaborate with other engineers to analyze and resolve database performance issues (including queries optimization, tables partitioning, ...).

  • Day-to-day management of Databases and associated tasks (i.e. online & offline backup, replication, archiving, etc...).

  • Pro-actively devise database improvement and scalability plan to cater for huge expected growth.

Experience Required:

  • At least 3 years’ DBA experience in a SQL environment.

  • Excellent knowledge of MySQL and Linux technologies.

  • Experience in Linux development environments and database programming.

  • Excellent knowledge of SQL and stored procedures.

  • Experience with enterprise level high-volume transactional systems.

  • Experience in database disaster recovery planning.

  • Excellent communicator, analytical and organized.

  • Driven and result oriented.

  • Degree and, or DBA certification would be considered an asset.

  • Experience in online gaming industry would be considered an asset.
